Weather continues to be more favorable, but concerns remain in RS

The Brazilian weather scenario has begun to look up in recent days

Significantly less rain in southern states has been enabled planting progress

Rio Grande do Sul: planting rose from 12% to 53% of projected area in just one week

According to Emater/RS, producers took advantage of the drier weather to speed up planting efforts even in regions where the soil was not ideal

Precipitation to remain low this week – expected maximum: 1.18 in/30 mm in some regions of Rio Grande do Sul

Aggressive planting expected in coming days, with attempts to catch up after weather-related delays

Planting progress was 74% complete at this time last year

Despite improved weather conditions, the emergence stage in Rio Grande do Sul was not favored in recent weeks due to limited sunlight

Emater reported that plantations are fairly heterogeneous in some regions, putting a damper on expectations for the crop’s average yield

Current low prices also limit producers’ investments in applications of fungicides and fertilizers, which could also negatively affect final productivity
